Good bye !

Our web class program of 5 weeks ends now. You will get back to your regular class on Monday.
We hope you enjoyed these classes as much as we did. We tried to teach you fun but useful things that you will keep using in the future. That was our objective.

We will leave on Sunday. FX and Matt will be back in Paris on Tuesday and I will join them next Sunday ( I've got to go to San Francisco to have fun... hmm ... to work)

Our Weekend in Tuba City

This weekend we tried to rent a car...
But We think that the renter just ripped us off ! No ?

Friday's field trip: Flea Market and Navajo Museum

Friday, the seventeenth of August, we did a very interesting field trip with the students. First we went to the flea market to eat some Navajo specialties, then we went to the Museum. It was really captivating!

The Flea-Market
Directly after school we go with our students for a field trip to the museum of Tuba City. We don’t take time to restore us with the canteen of Grey Hills, but make a halt at the flea-market to taste with the local specialties (primarily containing sheep).

The Navajo Museum
A very interesting visit, the museum seems very small at first sight but once inside, there are many things. Objects and informations concerning the culture, the language and the Navajo traditions. A room of the museum is also entirely devoted to the history of the “Code Talkers”, of Navajos which during the second world war played a dominating part in the victory of the United States over Japan, by using their language to make a code which Japanese never succeeded in deciphering.

End of our first week at Tuba City
This visit encloses for us our first week, whose assessment is rather positive. The majority of the pupils seem to be interested by our classes and we made fuller knowledge with many of them. This week was primarily devoted to the creation of their blogs and they discovered a lot of online-tools. Work on the site English-Navajo of association will start the next week.

About the 3rd french student (Alix)

My last name is CHAYSINH and my first name is Varavouth, but I am used to Alix because it is my usual name ( second first name ). My parents come from Laos next to Thailand.
I will soon turn 21 (08/18/86), and I was born in La Roche Sur Yon, Vendée, France, on the tlantic coast. I graduated from high school with mathematics on main subject.

During my free time, I play video games or hang out with friends or listen to small live concerts. I am fond of pop, rock even punk music. I also listen to Japanese rock a lot.
Here are a few bands I love to listen to : Muse, the Servant, the Killers, the arcade fire, Death Cab for a cutie, The Postal Service, Razorlight, My chemical romance, The Fratellis, sum41, yellowcard, biffy clyro, broken social scene, stars, bump of chicken (jap), do as infinity (jap), beat crusaders(jap), art-school(jap), ellegarden(jap).

I don't go often to the cinema but I like thrilling, action or fun films.
I also need to watch latest seasons of series I am crazy about : 24 hours, prison break, lost ...

A few things about me... (Matt)

I'm not very good at talking about myself and thus I'm going to make it quick.

To begin, my name is Matthieu, but just "Matt" will be enough. I was born in France, in a small town called Sarreguemines and located next to Germany. I'm 21 Years Old.

I graduated from high school where I specialized in economy. Since 2004 I'm studying multimedia, internet and communication technologies and my last year was in Paris. If everything goes right, I've got two years left to finish my studies. Passed that, I'd like to work as web-projects manager.

Concerning my hobbies and how I like to spend my spare time, I would essentially mention music! I love playing the guitar and making some music with my friends. I also really like attending concerts. The kind of music that I prefer (listening and playing) is rock (pop-rock, punk-rock, folk-rock…) but I globally can appreciate all music styles. I don't think I've got a favorite band or a favorite artist, it always changes! But lately, I would quote Sum 41, Jimmy Eat World, Matt Costa, Rise Against, The Weepies, Fall Out Boy, Bad Religion, Death Cab For Cutie, Rocky Votolato.

Besides music, I like doing some sport (badminton, soccer, tennis, bicycle…), watching movies (every kind) and TV shows (Lost, Prison break, Heroes…) and also reading.

Don't know what else I could tell about myself, except the fact that I'm very happy to be here in Tuba City for these five weeks. I also hope that we'll get to interest you with our lessons and that we'll spend good moments together!

Short presentation of me (FX)

My firstname is François-Xavier but call me "FX" , its shorter and better...I'm 21 years old, i'll turn 22 in october.
I'm living in Paris but my parents live in Nantes, near to the Atlantic coast, so I often go there...

I LOVE music. My type of music is rock like : Sum 41, Artic Monkeys,
Bloc Party, Alkaline Trio, Weezer. Actually I like rock music because I like to play this on my guitar.(with Matt !)

BUT what I love is Electronic Music. (deep / progressive house / electro )

My favorites bands/djs are Daft Punk, Mylo, Justice, Joachim Garraud...<- CLICK to see videos !

I also like watching movies, make the party with my friends, djing, dance, and go to the beach to swim or surfing in the waves.
